πŸŽ‰βœ¨πŸ’– Love in Full Showtime Glory! πŸ’–βœ¨πŸŽ‰

Today we celebrate the amazing celebration of Tiffany Giammarino and Peter Morawek.

A little over a year ago, Tiffany Giammarino and Peter Morawek embarked on a journey of love and laughter as they said β€œI do” in a dazzling ceremony at the enchanting Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, NJ. πŸ°πŸ’

As we celebrate their amazing wedding, we’re thrilled to share this special video edit crafted by Celebrations by James Klim Productions. πŸŽ₯✨ From stunning drone shots to the magic of professional audio, this video truly captures the essence of Tiffany and Peter’s love story. πŸŽ¬πŸ’«

Filming this marked one of my initial ventures into utilizing SLOG-3 on my Sony cameras during a wedding event. SLOG, a logarithmic color profile exclusive to Sony cameras, when meticulously exposed, unlocks the fullest extent of dynamic range in every capture. This means that during post-production color grading, I’m able to extract the most exquisite hues from each frame.

Often, to save time, videos are recorded directly from the camera’s real-time feed, a method commonly referred to as “baked in.” While this approach may suffice, it often compromises the true potential captured by the camera when recording in a log profile. Though it takes longer to achieve an incredible look for the video, the final result is always worth the effort. This distinction is what sets a videographer apart from a cinematographer.

Below are examples of how the raw video appears in-camera, followed by each step added during post-production to achieve the finalized look seen in the completed video.

  • Step 1: RAW – This is what the camera captures in real-time. The image may appear flat, but this effect is intentional. The true transformation occurs in steps 2-6, where the real magic unfolds.

  • Step 2: Grade – In this step, I work on the color grading of the footage, often referred to as applying a LUT, which stands for “Lookup Tables” or color filters. This process allows me to imbue the footage with a specific style. Professionals across various video formats, including movies, TV shows, short films, music videos, documentaries, commercials, and more, frequently utilize these techniques to evoke specific emotions. The custom-made LUT applied here is crafted by me. As you can see, this brings colors into the image, yet there is still much refinement to be done.

  • Step 3: Shadows – In this stage, I adjusted the shadows by reducing their intensity, as the initial image appeared overexposed. Correctly grading SLOG requires deliberately overexposing the image, enabling subsequent adjustments to bring down the highlights and maximize the depth of the black levels.

  • Step 4: Highlights – Here, I elevated certain highlights, careful not to affect the shadows previously adjusted in step 3. Each adjustment in this process targets specific elements of the video, rather than altering everything at once. If the footage were baked in during recording, the opportunity for these nuanced changes would be missed, resulting in a loss of creative freedom.

  • Step 5: Temperature – As observed in the previous step, a subtle green tint is present in the video. To address this, I introduced magenta to counterbalance the green, achieving a more natural overall appearance. While I could have maintained the green tint for a specific stylistic effect, I opted for a more natural look in this instance.

  • Step 6: Curves/Final – In this final stage, I fine-tuned the light curves to make precise adjustments. Light curves encompass green, red, blue, and white curves, each influencing different colors within the image. By achieving a harmonious balance across these elements, the end result is a video that appears natural yet boasts depth and richness.

Here’s a glimpse of the actual edit within the editing program. I utilize DaVinci Resolve, renowned for its extensive color grading capabilities.

This wedding exemplifies the standard of excellence you can anticipate across all our video packages. Specifically, it’s a prime example of our ShowTime bundle, tailored as the entry-level option for couples seeking a concise yet impactful representation of their special day. ShowTime videos typically condense up to 6 hours of recorded footage from two cinematographers into a captivating 3-4 minute narrative.

Now, here are additional video stills capturing the breathtaking moments immortalized during this unforgettable event.

Congrats once again to Tiffany and Peter! πŸ₯‚βœ¨ Cheers to a lifetime of love, laughter, and Showtime-worthy celebrations! πŸŒŸπŸ’–
